What We Believe About Healthy Living

Living

God has called us to live differently, in a way that honours Him.

As followers of Christ, we believe that God transforms the way we live. God graciously changes our desire to live for ourselves and for sin, to desires that are intent on living for Him in ways that honour Him.

The Law of God

The Ten Commandments show us simultaneously, both the love of God and the rules of God. God has established certain statutes for our lives in order to protect us.

Sabbath

Sabbath is a gift, a reward of rest, peace, encouragement, and re-charging. It restores us in our relationship with both God and others. The Sabbath reminds us of God’s creation, and the care of a loving Father.  At Kanisa Fellowship, we believe the Sabbath starts every Friday evening at sunset, and concludes on Saturday evening at sunset, in keeping with the Ten Commandments.

Giving

We believe that God has gifted us with both resources and material possessions to advance the common good within our society. We have a responsibility to care for creation, our fellow humans, and material gifts that He has graciously given us.  At Kanisa Fellowship, we also believe that giving money to the treasury is an act of worship and should be seen as an act of faith.

Christian Behaviour

God has called us to live a life that is holy and pleasing to Him. He gives us the strength to do this through the help of the Holy Spirit. We are called to live a life of righteousness, holiness, and above reproach, both for the cultivation of pure relationship with Him, and a constant testimony to the world around us of His great grace.

Marriage and the Family

Created in God’s image both male and female, God has created us to live in relationship. He has established the institution of marriage between one man and one woman as a covenant relationship that serves as a sanctifying process for both parties, as well as a healthy model for child upbringing.
