STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship can be defined as the position or office of a steward and a steward is one who manages another’s property, finances or other affairs. At Kanisa Fellowship we recognize that “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1 (NIV). We recognize that God has trusted us with the responsibility of managing His resources.

Purpose:

  1. Help Kanisa members, friends and partners become effective stewards of their time, opportunities, abilities, possessions, the earth and its resources.
  2. Assist in implementing Gods plan of systematic benevolence throughout the church.
  3. Assist in planning and organization of church resources.

The objectives can be summarized in the following statement “When they [the church] shall arouse and lay their prayers, their wealth, and all their energies and resources at the feet of Jesus, the cause of truth will triumph.” Testimonies, vol. 4, p. 475.

Seed Time:

In many congregations the offering portion of the service is feared and reviled because some members feel bribed, harassed and grudgingly obligated to give when they often do not have an understanding of what happens to the money when it disappears into the offering plate.

At Kanisa Fellowship we have replaced the traditional offering time with “Seed Time.” Seed Time is a time for worship, praise, education, empowerment and transparency.

We need to “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV). The church of God has nothing to hide. Therefore we use this time in the service to answer many of the stewardship questions members of the congregation may have.

We also use this time to educate the church about the God-given, bible-based, holistic stewardship principles and we will teach how we can all become better stewards. During Seed Time we learn and we return.
