Mirthell Mitchell, Pastor

Pastor Mirthell Mitchell was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Being the youngest son of the late Pastor Carlton Mitchell who served the Ontario Conference for 30 years, ministry has been a part of his entire life.  He sensed his call to the ministry though the inspiration of his father’s example, much like how Elijah was a mentor for Elisha.

He began his formative studies towards ministry at Oakwood University (formerly Oakwood College) in Huntsville, Alabama, pursuing and completing a Bachelor of Arts in Ministerial Theology in the spring of 1999. It was at Oakwood where he met Rita Roberts from Los Angeles, California.  They were married in December 1998, and after graduation, moved back to Toronto, Canada to seek employment with the Ontario Conference in pastoral ministry.

His first assignment was a summer internship at the Newmarket Seventh-day Adventist church.  He was then fully hired in ministry as an associate pastor at the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist church in October, 1999.  Furthering his ministerial training, he attended the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan and graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in the summer of 2005.

September 2005 to December 2005, he was placed, briefly, at the It Is Written Fellowship to assist with an evangelistic effort.  It was during this time that he developed an interest in Internet evangelism, exploring and achieving success using several multimedia tools. He has since had the privilege of being the Internet evangelism presenter for Maranatha 2009, Youth Evangelism Training 2010, Festival of the Laity 2010, and Festival of the Laity 2012.

In January 2006, he was placed as the assistant pastor of the Mississauga Seventh-day Adventist church.  After being ordained in July 2007, he became the pastor of the Hamilton East Seventh-day Adventist church.  He served in Hamilton for just over five years before his recent transfer to Kanisa Fellowship on September 29, 2012.

Pastor Mitchell is a family man who has a deep passion for family ministry.   He is presently completing his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

He and Rita have four beautiful children:  Shalom, Sinead, Sade, and Shiloh.  He loves spending time with his wife and children, homeschooling, going to church, playing games, traveling, having worship, doing chores or just simply hanging out.

It is his desire and mission to help rebuild the foundation of the homes in the church and in the community, so others may experience the joys of family, which God intended.
